In honor of GEICO’s 75th anniversary, we’re sharing an image from GEICO’s past each month this year and inviting you to exercise your caption-writing skills.

GEICO weathered a financial crisis during the mid-1970s; aside from the company’s earliest years, it was the most challenging time in GEICO’s entire history. The company took tough but necessary steps to “right the ship,” and also benefited from the confidence of Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, which made a sizable investment in GEICO that helped the company survive.

These rootin’-tootin’ cowboys were part of the executive team that guided GEICO’s recovery. By the mid-1980s, when this photo was taken, GEICO was back on firm financial ground, and these skilled and effective business leaders were able to indulge in some frivolity.
