When not on the track, Mears loves spending time with his wife, Trisha and his daughter Samantha

We are excited to add Casey Mears to the GEICO Racing Team. NASCAR star Casey Mears carries with him one of the most recognized names in the sport of auto racing. Not only has he experienced success in NASCAR’s Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series, he has also won races in the Indy Light and ARCA Series, and earned a 2006 victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

When it comes to NASCAR, I still have a lot to learn. And what I have found out about Casey, I like. He comes from a family of racers, including his father, Roger Mears, a championship off-road racer and his uncle, Rick Mears, a four-time Indianapolis 500 winner. When asked about his new position as the GEICO driver, he stated, “I’m excited at the opportunity to drive the #13 GEICO Camry for Germain Racing. It’s a great opportunity and I believe with all the hard work that Germain Racing has put into their Cup program, as well as our relationship with Michael Waltrip Racing, that we’ll be able to do good things. I’ve known Bootie Barker (crew chief) for a long time, so I think we’ll work well together. I’m ready to get to work and do a good job for GEICO.”

When Casey is not driving race cars he spends time with his wife, Trisha and his daughter Samantha at their home in Charlotte, N.C. Make sure you keep up with Casey on Facebook and follow GEICO Racing on Twitter. While Casey moves into the GEICO car in the Sprint Cup Series, Max Papis fans will see much more of Mad Max as he moves full-time into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, piloting the No. 9 GEICO Toyota Tundra. I’m looking forward to seeing Casey and Max in the remainder of the 2010 season and moving into 2011. We wish them all the best!
