Spring has sprung and baseball season is in full force. I did a little checking on the subject, and baseball has been around for quite some time, with the

first recorded games in the U.S. coming about in the mid-19th century. The tried-and-true all-American sport is thriving with more than 75 million fans attending Major League Baseball games each year. It’s expected that roughly 30 million hot dogs will be consumed during the 2010 baseball season, and if you happen to be at a ball game on July 5, make sure you get a box of Cracker Jacks to celebrate Cracker Jack Day

Recently, the Caveman teamed up with Ryan Zimmerman, the Washington Nationals’ All-Star 3rd Baseman and Gold Glove winner for the 2009 season. They can be seen together on the field and in the gym

The Gecko loves baseball, too! GEICO sponsors the President’s Race at all home games in Washington, D.C. The race features larger-than-life caricatures of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt vying for the finish line, marked by the Gecko waving a flag. The President’s Race has become a fixture at the Nationals home games. Try as he might, Teddy has yet to win, and a blog has launched to support him. I’m typically a Lincoln fan, but I’m really rooting for Teddy this season. We’d love to hear about your favorite teams and team mascots.
