In honor of GEICO’s 75th anniversary, we’re sharing an image from GEICO’s past each month this year and inviting you to exercise your caption-writing skills.
GEICO started as a family business – newlyweds Leo and Lillian Goodwin got the company off the ground, and Leo Jr. was a GEICO employee for a time as well. Families can tolerate – and some actually encourage – a fair amount of nonsense from their members, and old photos of company gatherings show that things sometimes got pretty goofy at GEICO gatherings.
We’re not sure what the occasion was for these three gentlemen to get dressed up as … whatever they are. Perhaps they’re trying to contact the mother ship. What do you think?

There audtioning for the part of the tin man in The Wizard of Oz
Looks like homeowners is getting a new look for upcoming comercials to me.
“Can switching to GEICO really save you 15% on your car insurance?
Is wearing random household items as clothing a really bad idea?”
The TeleTubbies Off-Broadway show did not recieve the critical acclaim of the BBC children’s show that aired nearly a half century later.
Just think – 75 years ago, this could have passed as robot costumes in major motion pictures.
Please welcome the GEICO singers – Ed, Jeff, Doug… and the skinny one is… wait for it… Mike!
Let me clear this up: Mike is the microphone. Mic. Because it’s a mic. What, like you’re so funny?
There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home! Why did I have tho wear the plunger?
“We’re off to see the Wizard! The Wonderful Wizard of Oz!”
I think I know who lost the coin toss for this skit! A plunger?! Wow.
it is time for the Gecko to join these guys in a marketing campaign. Actually, my father is the tinman. He and my mom met at Geico. I met my husband through one of my colleagues at Geico and now our son works for Geico…all in the family
*drum roll* “…and the winner of the use-a-house-hold-item-for-a-hat-and-wear-weird-necklaces award is……WARREN BUFFET!!!!!!!!
Looks like something to do with Pep Boys… Maybe a partnership??
“We are here to see the Wizard”
