Simple mobile app will change your life … or at least make it slightly better

This is what happens to me: I sit with a calculator and pen and try to figure out if I’ll have enough vacation to go on that trip to Seattle. I check my math and still when the time comes, I miscalculated and I’m short a day of vacation. It happens every time.
But that sort of experience is a thing of the past for federal employees, who can now use the new GEICO Leave Card mobile app to keep track of their vacations and sick leave. Once you download the app, you enter your initial balances of leave and accrual rates. From there, the app will automatically track your vacation and sick leave. It will account for days out of the office and add credit and comp time in order to keep your card up to date. That all translates to never miscalculating how much time off you’ll have available for that trip to Seattle … or Italy … or Hawaii. You get the picture.
It’s a pretty simple app that will make the life of a federal employee just the tiniest bit easier. So what’s the catch? Well, the app is free, and it’s available for Android devices, iPhones and BlackBerries … I guess there really is no catch. You can find all the details on geico.com.
Federal employees shouldn’t find it too surprising that GEICO now has this app available – after all, we have been providing federal leave cards since the 1950s, when federal workers were the primary customers of the Government Employees Insurance Company, now known as GEICO. Now, in our 75th year, we serve all kinds of customers, but we will always have a particular fondness for government employees.
