It’s hard to believe November is already upon us! Even though it’s getting colder in many areas, we are still out and about this weekend at many events around the country.
The South Florida International Auto Show is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year in Miami. If you can’t get enough of the more than 1,000 new vehicles being showcased, you can also explore the Green Way exhibit, featuring electric and hybrid vehicles, or the Miami Street Rides exhibit which features tricked-out rides, exotics and concept cars. And on Sunday, we will be in Orlando at the 9th Annual Concours d’Elegance, one of the most highly-regarded, exotic car shows in the U.S.
In Virginia, the Gecko will be at the Urbanna Oyster Festival – it’s the 53rd year for this fun-filled event, complete with street sales, children’s rides, and entertainment, not to mention the oyster-shucking contest!
In Florida, the city of Ocoee celebrates its 17th Annual Founders Day Festival. Stop by for entertainment including Jamey Johnson, Deana Carter, Justin Moore and Clint Black, among others. If you’re more of an athlete, you can participate in the 5K run on Saturday or just cheer the runners on. Or sit back and watch the motorcycles and classic cars take off in the Poker Run. There’s something for everyone this weekend in Ocoee!
In Gainesville, the 29th Annual Downtown Festival and Art Show features more than 250 talented artists and entertainers, including such acts as The Pete Karnes Blues Band and the 6th Street Rhythm and Blues Review. Make sure you stop by the GEICO Tent to say hello!
In Washington, D.C., this weekend, we’ll be at For Sisters Only, a one-day expo with celebrities, health screenings, seminars, musical performances and more. In San Diego, we will be supporting the runners at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this Sunday in Balboa Park.
College football fans will see us in Utah at Brigham Young University as the Cougars take the field against the UNLV Rebels. If you’re more of an NFL fan, we’ll see you in Baltimore as we tailgate before the Ravens vs. Dolphins game.
Hockey fans, we’ll watch as the New York Islanders battle it out with the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. Also on Saturday, we’ll be at the Atlanta Thrashers game as they take on the Chicago Blackhawks. Sorry, Thrashers fans, but I have to say Go, Hawks!
The GEICO Skytypers will take flight at the Wings Over Homestead air show in Miami this weekend. Along with the Skytypers, the Blue Angels, the Golden Knights and other performers will fill the sky with aerobatic maneuvers.
Christiana Bradley will be in Alabama competing at the Bassmaster Weekend Series National Championship in Guntersville. We hope she hooks something to be proud of!
Well, that’s it for this weekend — and it’s quite a bit! Hope you all have a great weekend and let me know if you happen across the GEICO Tent or the Gecko in your weekend adventures.
