Time to vote … for your favorite Halloween candy

Yeah, there’s a big, important election coming up next month, and everybody should definitely get out there and vote for their favorite candidates, but before we even get to November, there’s another pressing issue only you, the American public, can decide.

What’s your favorite Halloween candy?

Not important, you say? Well, according to a quiz I found on the Internet (so you know it’s true), the average American consumes 24 pounds of candy yearly – a large portion of it Halloween-generated. And the average American family spends $44 on Halloween candy. So there’s a lot at stake here.

Now some folks like hard candies, lollipops, taffy or that waxy, sugary candy corn. I’ll eat those if there’s nothing else available, but those kinds of treats are not my confections of choice. For my money there are two essential ingredients in the ideal candy, not just for Halloween, but all year long.

Chocolate.

Peanuts.

Anything that includes those two things is going to rate highly on my list. So fill my bag with Baby Ruth, Snickers, Reese’s and peanut M&Ms, and you can keep all that other stuff for yourself. By the way, that same quiz states that Snickers is the most popular chocolate bar. I rest my case.

    Believe it or not it’s those sickening sweet candy corns and candy butter pumpkins. Not sure WHY I love those things, but I do. Can’t have the chocolate (brown). Have to be the traditional yellow, orange and white candy corn!!

    Bit-o-honey bars!  But I do love those good old traditional candy corn, pumpkins and marshmellow ghost, pumpkins etc….oh yummy I think I have to run to the store now  :)

    You HAVE to eat candy corn the entire fall season. October until Thanksgiving is the only time it tastes good to me though. It IS a fat free candy and the good ones are made with honey, that is kind of healthy, right?
