This weekend, it’s apples, autumn, football and music

I can’t get enough of this fall weather! October is the perfect time to go apple picking. The people of Connecticut can head to the Apple Harvest Festival in Glastonbury for live music, crafts and fabulous food. And what would an apple festival be without a pie bake-off and pie-eating contest?

This is the time of year people start spending more time with friends and families in their homes. Make a quick stop at The Maryland Home and Garden Show if you are in the Timonium area to check out everything for your home, including contractors, crafts and better-living exhibits. For an educational outing this weekend, in Virginia you can visit the National Trademark Expo in Alexandria and learn about the evolution and history of trademarks.

Sports fans, we’ll be in Philadelphia with an eye on the ice as the Flyers take on the Penguins on Saturday. As always, it’s hard for us to miss college football. So, we’ll be in Tallahassee as the Seminoles take on the Eagles of Boston College. Stop by and vote for the Best of College Sports or send a message from the GEICO Caveman to your friends. And in Tuscaloosa, we’ll watch the Alabama Crimson Tide take on Ole Miss. NFL fans, we’ll be in D.C. to see the Redskins combat the Colts and we’ll head to Philadelphia to watch the Eagles take on the Falcons. And for you race fans in North Carolina, tune in as Casey Mears roars into Charlotte for the Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

Head to the South Carolina State Fair in Columbia for great entertainment, including Corey Smith, Miranda Lambert, Boyz II Men and the Oak Ridge Boys among others. More than just entertainment, the fair has rides, food and family-friendly exhibits for everyone. In California, the Gecko will check out the Big Fresno Fair for Montgomery Gentry and other live music, a local farmer’s market, carnival rides and more.

Time to lace ’em up this weekend, this time in Maryland! We’ll be at the Baltimore Running Festival for a marathon, a half marathon, relays and more. Don’t like to run? How about flying? GEICO’s aerobatic pilot is at it again — this time Texans can catch Tim Weber at the Amigo AirSho in El Paso along with the USAF Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knight Parachute Team.

Have I missed anything? Make sure to let me know!

For a very exctiting NFL game everyone should check in on the Falcons vs. Eagles as that will be a very emotional game between the Falcons and Michael Vick.  Should be very interesting to see how Vick handles the stress and the chants from the falcons fans.  All this is of course assuming he can play (rib injury).  But I suspect that he will as he will want to make a statement by beating (or trying to) the Falcons.  I think he will have a tough time as Matt Ryan is showing us more and more how composed and patient of a quarterback he really is.  His vision downfield is also very impressive.  So everyone tune in and check sportscenter at the end of the day.
