A couple weeks ago, the GEICO safe driving team headed to Philadelphia to attend the 2010 Lifesavers Conference. The conference brought together an influential and dedicated group of highway safety experts from across the industry. Their purpose? To reduce the number of deaths and injuries on our nation’s roadways.

So what were the major takeaways and focuses of this year’s conference?

  • Distracted driving. Distracted driving has been a hot topic of conversation lately. Whether you’re talking on the phone, putting on your make-up or even having a heated discussion, each has proven to be a deadly distraction.
  • Teen driving. Another hot topic of discussion; safety experts are constantly looking for ways to reduce the number of teen deaths and injuries. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), car crashes are the number one cause of death for teenagers.

If you’re interested in learning about more of the conference’s happenings, go here to see all the materials from each of the presenters.

    Dear GEICO,

    Thanks,
